The Director of Food & Beverage position at the University Club Alabama is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $68,000 to $78,000, and it is bonus eligible. This role is critical in managing all food and beverage operations and ensuring superior member services. The Director's primary responsibilities include overseeing member satisfaction, revenue growth, and staff development. Success in this role is measured through benchmarks such as increased member usage, enhanced food and beverage revenues, improved employee relations, and adherence to quality standards across service, production, cleanliness, and safety. The Director collaborates closely with other department heads and member committees to develop and implement activities and events that cater to the evolving needs of club members. Leadership involves recruiting, training, and cultivating a qualified team while ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations. This role demands strong communication skills, strategic planning, fiscal management, and a passion for delivering world-class service. The Director is also tasked with managing labor costs, scheduling, and maintaining effective time management systems. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 5-7+ years of experience in club management or food and beverage industry
- ServSafe Manager Certification, alcohol safety certification, and CPR certification preferred
- Ability to deal with highly confidential material such as member and employee data
- Strong computer literacy with spreadsheet knowledge
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience interviewing and hiring food and beverage staff
- Ability to lead pre-shift meetings and motivate teams.
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintain exceptional member relations and facilities by creating a quality environment through staffing, programming, service operations, and maintenance
- Develop aggressive food and beverage sales, marketing, and net revenue plans and direct successful implementation following established budgeting and revenue guidelines
- Identify opportunities for member events and food and beverage services that satisfy ongoing member needs and implement them to achieve revenue objectives
- Ensure all expense control systems are in place with close monitoring of all department expenses, including the revenue to payroll ratio and appropriate forecasting systems
- Work with member committees to develop and implement member activities and events
- Communicate with members on group and individual bases to ensure the club is exceeding their expectations
- Recruit, select, and develop a qualified staff to understand the relationship between value, member service, and retention
- Develop employees for career advancement using performance reviews, cross-training, and developmental planning
- Hire quality employees and complete proper pre-employment screening and onboarding
- Administer compensation packages in line with labor laws
- Create a work environment focused on teamwork, respect, member satisfaction, and revenue objectives
- Implement and execute specific training programs for quality service and products
- Manage scheduling and labor costs
- Ensure accurate time reporting and adherence to time management policies
- Lead department meetings and service training sessions
- Partner with employees to provide excellent service
- Ensure service recovery programs are in place and staff are properly trained
- Adhere to all company and department policies and standards of operations
- Initiate wine and beverage sales incentives
- Control labor, linen, and miscellaneous expenses in line with standards of operations.
