The Iowa Events Center, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is one of the premier venues managed by Oak View Group. It hosts a variety of events, including concerts, banquets, large-scale dining functions, and catered events. At this dynamic location, the Catering Server plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding guest service by ensuring guests have a positive dining experience during catered functions. This part-time position offers an hourly wage between $16.00 and $18.00, with the added benefit of being tip eligible. Additionally, part-time employees have access to benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan and company matching contributions.
The Catering Server is responsible for serving guests in venue dining areas with a high level of professionalism and courtesy. This role demands the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Employees must maintain excellent attendance and flexibility to work scheduled events as needed, including nights, weekends, and long hours. Key duties include interpreting Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper setup of linens, dishware, glassware, and silverware, serving meals or replenishing buffet items, verifying IDs when serving alcoholic beverages in compliance with state and federal laws, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace throughout the event.
Candidates ideally have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience serving in fine dining or large-scale dining venues. Attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, and excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential traits. The ability to be self-directed while also functioning effectively as part of a team is key to success in this role. Job Duties
