Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader specializing in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services. Established in 2015, OVG operates a diverse platform that includes venue development, venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. The company owns and manages seven world-class venues while also servicing a prestigious client roster. These clients encompass some of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. OVG’s commitment to excellence and passion for live entertainment has made it a prominent name in the industry, known for creating unforgettable experiences and managing top-tier venues worldwide.
Located at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, the company is hiring for the part-time position of Catering Server. This role involves supporting catered functions within the venue by providing exceptional service to guests in the dining areas. The Catering Server position is critical in ensuring that events run smoothly and that guests have a memorable experience. The employee must demonstrate professionalism, a personable attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Given the nature of live events, the role requires adaptability, excellent attendance, and a willingness to work various shifts as scheduled by business needs.
As a Catering Server for Oak View Group, the employee will engage directly with guests, serving meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks, while adhering strictly to state and federal alcohol regulations. The hourly wage for this part-time role ranges from $16.00 to $18.00 and is tip-eligible, making it a competitive opportunity for individuals seeking flexible employment in the hospitality industry. The position also offers part-time benefits including a 401(k) Savings Plan with matching contributions, reinforcing OVG’s commitment to employee well-being even at the part-time level.
This role is ideal for individuals with prior serving experience, especially those who are detail-oriented and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of customer service. The successful Catering Server will be responsible for interpreting Banquet Event Orders to ensure that events are properly arranged with the correct linens, dishware, glassware, and flatware. Efficiency in replenishing buffet items, replacing tableware and linens, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and upholding health and safety standards are essential functions of this job.
Additionally, Oak View Group values diversity, equity, and inclusion, actively fostering an environment where all employees can thrive regardless of background. OVG believes these principles drive innovation, enhance service quality, and elevate overall excellence across all facets of the organization. As an equal opportunity employer, Oak View Group does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, age, veteran status, disability, or any other protected characteristic. This inclusive approach extends to welcoming a variety of voices to contribute to the company’s ongoing success, particularly in the fast-evolving sports and live entertainment sectors.
The position remains open until July 24, 2026, inviting motivated candidates who appreciate the energetic environment of live events and who possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to apply. Working nights, weekends, and potentially long hours is part of the role’s schedule, reflecting the hours of operation typical of live event venues. If you enjoy working as part of a dedicated team committed to excellence and guest satisfaction, the Catering Server role at Oak View Group’s Iowa Events Center promises a rewarding career opportunity within a globally respected organization.
