The Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, part of the Oak View Group’s portfolio, is currently seeking a Beverage Supervisor to join their team on a part-time basis. This role is essential to the Food and Beverage department, focusing on overseeing the ordering, storage, and distribution of all beverage products within the venue. The Beverage Supervisor position offers an hourly wage between $20.00 and $22.00 and includes benefits for part-time employees such as a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. This role demands a professional who is personable, highly organized, and flexible enough to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment frequently shaped by live events and large crowds.

As a Beverage Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of beverage service, including alcoholic beverages, ensuring compliance with legal age verification, sanitation, health, and safety standards. You will work closely with Food and Beverage Managers on important projects like training staff, managing inventory levels, and supporting special events to maintain efficient operations. This role requires someone who takes pride in maintaining equipment cleanliness and operability, demonstrates excellent attendance, and is proactive in enforcing company policies—especially those related to responsible alcohol service and guest safety. Your ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, volunteers, and guests will contribute to fostering a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative workplace culture. Job Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience working in a supervisory capacity in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment or applicable education
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possess a valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit if required by state or federal regulations
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
  • Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory

Job Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of beverage ordering with the assistance of other Food and Beverage Managers
  • Supervise beverage service, including alcoholic beverages, and verify guest identification to ensure compliance with minimum age requirements
  • Assist with beverage orders to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
  • Assure that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event
  • Recognize guests that are visibly intoxicated and take action to cut off alcohol to such individuals
  • Enforce all OVG policies and procedures
  • Assist the management team with projects including training, inventory, and special events
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the managers and supervisors
