The Bartender position at the Ventura County Fairgrounds is a seasonal, part-time role designed for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service in the food and beverage industry. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.90 to $20.00, with tip opportunities enhancing the earning potential. It requires availability throughout the fair dates, starting July 29, 2026, and ending August 9, 2026.
As a Bartender, you will be responsible for serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to fair attendees. The role demands a personable and professional demeanor to ensure guest satisfaction and maintain a welcoming environment. You will be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting, adapting to changing conditions and demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication skills. Your responsibilities will include adhering to all state and federal regulations concerning the sale and distribution of alcohol, ensuring responsible service, and maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace.
The job also requires knowledge of various beer, wine, and spirit selections, as well as the ability to suggestively upsell products. Effective cash handling skills and the capacity to handle challenging situations involving intoxicated guests are also critical. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- six months or more experience bartending
- ability to handle cash accurately
- ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure
Job Qualifications
- Six months or more experience bartending
- high School Diploma or GED preferred

- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and long hours
Job Duties
- Demonstrate the ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards
- follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described
- serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures and state/federal regulations
- responsible for learning or having knowledge of various beer, wine varieties and spirits available and suggestively upsell products
- pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size
- check the guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age
- communicate a cut-off to a guest as required
- listen and respond to customer requests or concerns
- de-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security as needed
- request additional products or restock products as needed
- maintain a clean and sanitary workstation at all times
- assist with setup and breakdown of bar equipment and organization of the cooler
