Job Description

Located at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, the Bartender position offers a part-time opportunity with Oak View Group, providing an hourly wage between $15.00 and $20.00, supplemented by tip eligibility. This role is integral to delivering a superior guest experience by expertly preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The bartender acts as a face of hospitality, requiring a personable and professional demeanor, adaptability, and an ability to manage the demands of varied event schedules. This position is critical in ensuring compliance with state and federal alcohol service regulations, maintaining safety standards, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.

The Bartender will be responsible for following bar pre-shift notes, using comprehensive knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits to upsell and recommend products, verifying age identification, responsibly serving drinks, and handling cash transactions with accuracy. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar, managing inventory, and coordinating with management and security when handling difficult guest situations are also key aspects of the role. This environment requires excellent multitasking and communication skills, the ability to work independently while contributing to a team, and scheduling flexibility, including night shifts, weekends, and long events. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or more bartending experience
  • Ability to handle cash accurately
  • Knowledge of state and federal alcohol service laws
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate excellent guest service and adhere to uniform standards
  • Follow bar pre-shift notes and serve according to bar menus
  • Serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Have knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits and upsell products
  • Pour drinks responsibly according to company standards
  • Check guests' IDs to verify minimum age requirements
  • Communicate cut-offs to guests as necessary
  • Respond to customer requests and concerns
  • De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security when needed
  • Handle cash accurately and manage assigned bank
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and bar equipment
  • Set up and break down bar equipment and assist with cooler organization
