The role of the Bartender at the University of Kansas Social Club is a part-time position that offers an hourly wage ranging from $12.00 to $15.00, in addition to tips. This role is pivotal in enhancing the guest experience by delivering fast, personable, professional, and high-quality beverage service in a fast-paced environment. Bartenders will follow detailed pre-shift notes and bar menus while adhering strictly to company standards as well as state and federal regulations, particularly those related to the responsible service of alcohol. Responsibilities include preparing and serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, upselling products in a knowledgeable manner, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. The bartender is also expected to manage guest interactions with professionalism, responsibly check identifications, and de-escalate any intoxicated or disruptive guest situations, calling for management assistance if necessary.

Job Requirements
- Six months or more experience bartending
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- Accurate cash handling skills required
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights weekends and long hours

Job Duties
- Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service interaction with co-workers and uniform standards
- Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described
- Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state and federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol
- Responsible for learning or having knowledge of various beer wine varieties and spirits available and being able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests
- Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size
- Check the guest's ID in accordance with state and federal regulations to verify the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages
- Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required
- Listen and respond to any customer requests or concerns
- De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security if necessary
- Contact a management member if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making
- Request additional products or restock products as needed
- Responsible for the issued bank at the bar
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation at all times
- Ensure that bar equipment is clean and well maintained
- Other duties may include setting up and breaking down bar equipment and assisting with organizing the cooler
