Oak View Group is currently offering a part-time Barista position at this location, providing an opportunity to join their dedicated hospitality team. This role pays an hourly rate ranging from $13.00 to $16.00 and is tip eligible, with additional benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan inclusive of matching contributions for part-time employees. The position will remain open until October 16, 2026.

As a Barista at the University of Kansas Social Club, you will play a vital role in crafting memorable guest experiences by delivering exceptional customer service. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • minimum 6 months experience in fast-paced food service environment
  • ability to acquire and maintain Food Handlers Card and Alcohol Awareness Certification
  • strong communication skills

  • ability to work in team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • positive attitude and passion for customer service

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months working in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment preferred
  • hospitality experience within a barista or cafe environment is a plus
  • must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D., or related food service job experience
  • must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings
  • ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner
  • passion for coffee and attention to detail
  • strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude

Job Duties

  • Preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages to guests
  • delivering friendly, efficient, and engaging customer service
  • maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times
  • supporting the wider team to ensure smooth daily service
  • maintaining knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered
  • providing quick, attentive, friendly, and professional service to banquet guests and communicating clearly with all customers
  • ensuring that food items are served at the proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen
  • ensuring neat presentation of all ordered items with no spill-over
  • pre-busing tables and fully bussing tables during peak periods
  • maintaining availability to work during many peak periods
  • stocking beverage stations when necessary
  • maintaining high responsiveness to customer desires and requests
  • maintaining a professional and clean appearance
  • communicating with wait staff, bus persons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff to improve communication and coordination
  • building and maintaining knowledge regarding bar offerings to answer patron questions accurately
