The part-time Barista role at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is a vital position aimed at enhancing visitor experience by delivering exceptional Starbucks quality beverages and customer service. This position blends hospitality with brand representation, requiring the Barista to prepare and serve beverages and food items according to Starbucks standards while maintaining a welcoming and clean café environment within the fast-paced setting of a convention center. As a Barista, you will act as a brand ambassador, creating memorable experiences for guests through engaging service and attention to detail. This role also offers an hourly wage ranging from $19.00 to $24.00 and is tip eligible, providing part-time employees with competitive pay.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages, ensuring each meets Starbucks' exacting quality and presentation standards. You will interact directly with customers, providing friendly and efficient service, while also handling point-of-sale transactions accurately. Beyond beverage preparation, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the coffee station, dining and storage areas, and adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols is essential. Support in opening and closing responsibilities such as setup, cleaning, and inventory management are also part of the daily duties.

This position calls for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in customer service, food service, or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory. Flexibility is key, as shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based schedules. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry heavy objects, and perform repetitive motions such as bending and reaching.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages, according to Starbucks recipes and standards
  • Provide friendly, engaging, and efficient customer service to all guests
  • Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale system
  • Maintain product quality, consistency, and presentation standards
  • Restock coffee, beverages, food items, cups, syrups, and other supplies throughout shifts
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, equipment, workstations, dining areas, and storage areas
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup, cleaning, and inventory tasks
  • Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to supervisors
  • Resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Support team members during high-volume periods and special events
  • Maintain knowledge of Starbucks products, promotions, and menu offerings
