Job Description

Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, dedicated to enhancing the venue experience through comprehensive venue development, management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Founded in 2015, OVG operates a portfolio of seven world-class owned venues and supports an extensive roster of iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and community engagement is reflected in its dynamic approach to live entertainment and venue management. With a foundation in creating extraordinary experiences, OVG provides industry-leading food and beverage services, ensuring guests receive impeccable hospitality during events.

The Barback position is based at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center, located in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut. The Bushnell is Connecticut’s premier performing arts venue and a centerpiece of the cultural landscape in the region. With a rich history dating to 1930, this nonprofit facility features timeless architecture combined with modern amenities and hosts more than 350 events annually. These events range from Broadway tours, concerts, comedy shows, and dance performances to community programs, making The Bushnell a vital cultural hub. Oak View Group proudly serves as the exclusive food and beverage provider for The Bushnell, enhancing guest experiences by delivering top-notch hospitality and culinary offerings.

As a part-time Barback, you will play a crucial support role within the beverage team, providing essential operational assistance to bartenders during a wide variety of events such as conventions, concerts, banquets, and sporting events. This role requires strict attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. The key responsibilities include preparing and stocking beverage stations, replenishing inventory throughout events, assisting with bar setup and breakdown, and ensuring cleanliness and compliance with food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations. You will also help maintain draft beer systems and serve as an extra set of hands for bartenders when needed by pouring draft beer or wine to improve service flow.

This position requires flexible availability, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and event-based shifts, often including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. The role is compensated with an hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $18.00, plus tips, making it an attractive opportunity for individuals seeking part-time employment within a vibrant and fast-paced entertainment environment. Benefits for part-time employees include access to a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, supporting financial wellness even on a part-time basis.

Joining Oak View Group means becoming part of an inclusive and diverse culture that values the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and talents each individual brings. OVG is committed to fostering an equitable workplace free from discrimination, promoting teamwork, and encouraging professional growth. If you have a passion for hospitality, enjoy working in a lively event setting, and want to contribute to memorable guest experiences at one of Connecticut’s most beloved performing arts centers, the Barback role at The Bushnell could be the perfect fit.
