Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a premier global leader specializing in the development, management, and operation of live entertainment venues and events. Founded in 2015, OVG has rapidly expanded its reach and influence, managing a diverse portfolio of world-class arenas, stadiums, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. With a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for guests, clients, and partners, Oak View Group integrates state-of-the-art infrastructure with comprehensive hospitality services to create unforgettable live event environments. The company's innovative approach to venue management supports a variety of events including concerts, sporting events, conventions, and banquets, demonstrating its versatility and expertise in the entertainment industry.
The Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC), located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is one of the distinguished venues managed under the Oak View Group umbrella. A cornerstone in Milwaukee's Theater District for over 50 years, MPAC is home to four major resident companies – Black Arts MKE, First Stage, The Florentine Opera, and Milwaukee Ballet – and serves as a dedicated War Memorial honoring veterans. MPAC prides itself on being a cultural hub that hosts world-class performances and inspiring community events designed to transport and transform audiences. The venue’s historic significance and dedication to the arts make it a prestigious place to work and grow within the performing arts and live entertainment field.
The Barback role at the Marcus Performing Arts Center is a part-time, regular position paying between $14.00 and $16.00 per hour, with eligibility for tips. This position is essential to the smooth operation of the beverage service team during events, including concerts, conventions, banquets, and sporting events. The Barback supports bartenders by ensuring that bars and beverage stations are fully stocked and prepared before and during events, facilitating seamless service delivery. Responsibilities include stocking beverage supplies such as beer, wine, liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, and utensils; assisting with keg management; transporting supplies; maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area; and upholding safety and responsible alcohol service standards.
This role demands a reliable and flexible individual able to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules. Attention to detail, physical stamina for lifting heavy objects like kegs and ice bags, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork are crucial. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the Barback must maintain composure under pressure while contributing to a positive guest experience. The role also offers growth opportunities within the Oak View Group organization and encourages the candidate to embrace and celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and excellence in live entertainment service.
