The Banquet Server role at Oak View Group is a vital position within the Mobile Convention Center, responsible for delivering top-tier food and beverage service during events. This part-time position offers an hourly wage of $20.00. Banquet Servers play a critical role in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for guests by providing professional, courteous, and timely service that meets and exceeds event specifications. They collaborate closely with kitchen and event teams to ensure that all aspects of meal service run smoothly and that guests’ needs are anticipated and promptly addressed. Responsibilities include setting up banquet spaces, managing food and beverage stations, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the service, and resetting areas for subsequent events. Banquet Servers are essential in maintaining the ambiance and quality of the event, making a positive impression on attendees and upholding the reputation of both the venue and event hosts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
- At least one year of experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred
- Ability to carry at least eight entrees per tray
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Physical ability to stand for long periods
- Capability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects regularly
- Punctuality and reliable attendance
- Customer service skills to handle simple complaints or inquiries
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred
- One or more years of experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred
- Ability to carry at least eight entrees per tray
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and select holidays
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects frequently
- Punctual with consistent attendance
- Ability to respond to simple customer complaints or inquiries
Job Duties
- Read and understand banquet event orders
- Provide fine dining level food and beverage service to guests consistent with service standards
- Initiate and maintain friendly and professional contact with guests, anticipating and meeting their needs
- Set up and maintain food and beverage stations across the venue in line with service standards
- Maintain inventory for food and beverage stations
- Keep all event areas and front-of-house staging areas tidy and organized
- Participate in both setup and cleanup of food and beverage service items
- Work independently during slower times
- Help ensure a safe and clean work environment
- Manage high levels of social contact with guests
- Ensure all work is accurate and complete
- Maintain a customer-focused, positive, and professional attitude
