The Sevierville Convention Center, part of the Oak View Group's venue collection, is a premier event facility located in Sevierville, Tennessee. Positioned approximately seven miles south of I-40 and boasting scenic views of the Smoky Mountains and the Sevierville Golf Club, the convention center offers extensive and versatile event spaces. It caters to a wide range of events including competitive arts shows, trade and retail exhibitions, meetings, conventions, retreats, seminars, banquets, receptions, and holiday parties. The facility features a beautiful ballroom that can accommodate up to 1500 guests, two large exhibit halls totaling over 100,000 square feet, and multiple smaller meeting rooms, allowing for tailored event setups and a commitment to exceeding client expectations.

The Banquet Server role at the Sevierville Convention Center is a part-time position offering an hourly wage between $17.00 and $18.00. This position plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service throughout the entire event experience. The Banquet Server is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and sanitation. This role requires the ability to anticipate guest needs, manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and respond promptly to any concerns or special requests. The position demands physical stamina as servers are often required to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy trays and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred
  • Knowledge and experience as a banquet server
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects frequently
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • Punctual with consistent attendance
  • Ability to respond to customer complaints or inquiries

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience as a banquet server or banquet waiter
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects often with the ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Must be punctual with consistent attendance
  • Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers

Job Duties

  • Assist with the complete setup and breakdown of the banquet area
  • Relay food and beverage orders
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices
  • Anticipate guests' needs and exceed customer service expectations
  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
