The Banquet Manager role at Utah Valley Convention Center is a full-time position offering an annual salary range of $55,000 to $65,000. This key leadership role is directly responsible for overseeing all banquet and catering operations to ensure seamless event execution, exceptional guest experiences, and high team performance. The Banquet Manager will administer daily banquet operations including staff management, collaboration with culinary and event teams, and maintaining compliance with operational standards and regulations. This position requires hands-on leadership with a focus on operational oversight, team development, and proactive event planning to deliver memorable and high-quality functions.
In this role, the Banquet Manager will manage all facets of food service operations within the assigned departments. They will lead banquet events from start to finish, including preparation, service, and post-event duties. Collaboration with the executive chef is essential for banquet planning, including coordinating menus and food orders, scheduling employees, and ensuring compliance with alcohol service policies. The Banquet Manager will also be entrusted with budgeting responsibilities, including managing labor, beverage, and supply costs to maximize profitability without compromising quality or guest satisfaction.
Working under this role encompasses inventory management, physical inspections, and compliance with state and federal labor laws, sanitation, food ordinances, and alcohol regulations. The Banquet Manager will be responsible for staff recruitment, training, supervision, and development to maintain a motivated and efficient team. They will oversee event staffing, payroll, equipment inspections, and troubleshoot POS-related issues when necessary. - 3-5 years of experience in hospitality, banquet, or catering operations
- Prior experience in catering sales, conference services, or banquets
- Knowledge of revenue management, training, and motivation
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning
- Basic computer proficiency including email, Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Point of Sale and timekeeping systems

Job Duties
- Manage and run all banquet operations before, during, and after the event
- Complete banquet planning sheets in coordination with executive chef
- Order supplies and review set-up, food, and beverage preparation
- Schedule staff and manage employee check-in
- Inspect equipment and monitor POS systems
- Resolve guest complaints and ensure food production and clean-up
- Ensure compliance with alcohol service policies and report any issues
- Conduct physical inventories of food and beverage supplies
- Coordinate with events departments to execute according to event resumes
- Monitor and control banquet budget including labor and beverage costs
- Brief staff on event requirements and assign specific areas
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness
- Enforce venue policies including guest satisfaction and cash handling
- Recruit, train, develop, mentor, and supervise banquet hourly employees
- Manage catered events from set-up to tear down including communication
- Generate employee schedules, verify time, and prepare payroll and gratuity reports
- Ensure compliance with state and federal labor, sanitation, food, and alcohol regulations
- Lift up to 50 pounds as required
