The Banquet Manager position at Utah Valley Convention Center is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $55,000 to $65,000. This position is responsible for leading all banquet and catering operations, assuring exceptional event execution, strong team performance, and delivering outstanding service to all guests. The role demands a hands-on management approach, requiring oversight of every detail from pre-event planning through to clean-up. The Banquet Manager will work closely with culinary and event teams to ensure seamless delivery of food and beverage services during banquets and catered events.

This role is critical for maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and compliance in banquet operations. Duties include managing staffing schedules, monitoring food and beverage preparation and presentation, enforcing alcohol service policies, resolving guest concerns, and maintaining stringent sanitation and safety protocols. The Banquet Manager will also control budgets, including labor and supply costs, to maximize profitability without compromising on service standards.

Additionally, the Banquet Manager will play a vital role in training, mentoring, and developing a team of banquet staff. Job Requirements

  • associate's degree or equivalent education
  • 3-5 years hospitality experience in banquet or catering operations
  • demonstrated knowledge of catering sales and conference services
  • ability to manage revenue and motivate peers

Job Qualifications

  • associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in hospitality, banquet or catering operations
  • prior experience in catering sales, conference services or banquets
  • knowledge of revenue management and staff training
  • ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
  • familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning
  • basic computer proficiency including email, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • working knowledge of POS and timekeeping systems
  • flexible to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular hours
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • knowledge of event planning and coordination for weddings, social and corporate events

Job Duties

  • manage and run all banquet operations before, during and after the event
  • complete banquet planning sheets in coordination with executive chef
  • order supplies and review set-up, food and beverage preparation and service
  • schedule staff and manage employee check-in
  • inspect equipment and monitor POS systems
  • resolve guest complaints and conduct staff training
  • ensure compliance with alcohol service policies and report issues
  • conduct food and beverage inventory and update pricing
  • meet with events departments to coordinate event requirements
  • monitor and control banquet budget and coordinate with event budgets
  • brief staff on event requirements
  • maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards
  • enforce company policies
  • assist in recruitment, training, development and supervision of banquet staff
  • manage catered events including communication with staff, culinary and guests
  • generate employee schedules and prepare payroll and gratuity reports
  • ensure compliance with labor laws, sanitation and food-related ordinances
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
