The position of Thrift Store Associate at the new Clifton Park, NY store represents a vital front-line role in the organization's retail operations. This full-time, hourly position is integral to processing donations and preparing merchandise for sale to the public. The Thrift Store Associate performs a variety of production-oriented tasks in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities include receiving donations, sorting and grading items such as textiles, housewares, electronics, shoes, and accessories based on quality and condition, and tagging and pricing merchandise in accordance with company standards.

The role demands physical stamina as it involves standing for extended periods and handling items that can weigh up to 50 pounds. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy in pricing and quality control. The associate is also responsible for organizing inventory in the stockroom and preparing items for the sales floor, including setting up fixtures and transport using rolling racks and carts. An emphasis on safety is paramount, with the need to follow strict safety procedures to maintain a clean, secure, and allergen-free work environment.

In addition to merchandise preparation, the Thrift Store Associate provides excellent customer and donor service. This includes accepting donations, issuing receipts, and maintaining an organized and welcoming donation area. Flexibility in schedule is required, as the store operates from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, and associates must be available for weekdays and some weekends to accommodate business needs. The role not only supports the retail operation but also advances Goodwill’s broader mission of creating opportunities for workforce development and community upliftment. Overall, this position offers individuals a rewarding chance to engage in hands-on, impactful work within a supportive environment that values sustainability, inclusion, and social good.
