The company is currently seeking to hire a Thermoforming Process Technician for its Bridgeview, Illinois facility. This is a full-time, night shift position operating on a 2-2-3 schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $38.81 to $49.89 per hour, paid weekly, with an additional $1 per hour shift differential.
The Thermoforming Process Technician is a pivotal role within Novolex’s manufacturing operations, responsible for overseeing and optimizing thermoforming and extrusion processes to ensure high-quality product output, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. This role demands an individual with extensive experience in automation, extrusion operations, thermoforming, and plastics machinery who can lead process improvements and troubleshoot complex technical issues. The technician will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including plant maintenance, automation, tooling, and engineering to drive continuous process enhancements and maintain peak production performance.
Key responsibilities include assisting with equipment changeovers to minimize downtime, maintaining production runs at standard rates, updating and recommending process sheet revisions, and developing programs to improve product quality and line efficiencies. The technician must demonstrate strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to lead and train team members effectively. Adherence to company safety policies and a commitment to fostering a safe work environment are essential elements of the role.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience or similar combination of education and experience
- Experience in plastics processing, including forming and extrusion
- Experience working with machinery
- Understanding of tooling, machining, material flow practices for extrusion and thermoforming
- Strong interpersonal skills to train, communicate, and lead effectively
- Ability to work a 12 hours COP shift
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience or similar combination of education and experience
- Experience in plastics processing, including forming and extrusion
- Experience working with machinery
- Understanding of tooling, machining, material flow practices for extrusion and thermoforming
- Strong interpersonal skills to train, communicate, and lead effectively
- Ability to work a 12 hours COP shift
- Two or four year technical degree or certification preferred
- Project team coordinator experience preferred
- Experience with finite element analysis and quality gauges preferred
Job Duties
- Assist with performing changeovers with minimal downtime
- Ensure all products are running at standard production rate for assigned shift
- Update, review and provide recommendations to plant Process Engineer for process sheet updates
- Develop, implement and execute programs to improve overall product quality and line efficiencies
- Operate and troubleshoot processes and equipment at an elevated level to resolve complex issues with supporting plant maintenance, automation, and tooling teams
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
- Train and communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations
