The Therapy Technician 1 position plays a vital role within the patient care team at Baylor Scott & White Health. This role assists patients throughout their therapy sessions by preparing treatment areas, sanitizing equipment, and providing hands-on support under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician. The position requires a mix of technical skills and interpersonal effectiveness to ensure patients receive safe and effective therapy. Responsibilities include assisting with exercises, supporting patient mobility and hygiene, monitoring patients during therapy, and performing administrative tasks such as scheduling and verifying patient charges. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- less than 1 year of experience
- ability to obtain basic life support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
- ability to operate and maintain physical therapy equipment
- must follow standard policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations
- proficiency in office equipment and computer use
- effective communication skills
- ability to assist with patient hygiene and mobility
- understanding of safety protocols with patient guarding
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- less than 1 year of experience
- basic life support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- proficiency with office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- knowledge of standard policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations
- ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment
Job Duties
- Prepares and sanitizes treatment rooms for patient care
- performs maintenance checks on department equipment
- escorts patients to treatment areas
- assists with therapy treatment under clinician's direction
- guides and monitors patients during exercise programs
- assists with patient mobility including transfers and gait
- utilizes therapy modalities correctly and answers patient questions
- adheres to safety practices with patient guarding
- performs activities of daily living observation and assistance
- assists with splint fabrication and wound care
- communicates patient performance issues to clinicians
- runs or assists with group treatments
- monitors and orders supplies
- performs administrative duties such as scheduling and filing
- drives vehicles transporting patients in select locations
