Job Description
The Broadmoor is a historic and prestigious luxury resort located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Renowned for its exceptional standards and distinguished as a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond resort, The Broadmoor offers guests a unique blend of timeless elegance, modern amenities, and outstanding hospitality. With a rich heritage spanning over a century, The Broadmoor is committed to maintaining its reputation through a culture rooted in family, community, and delivering a genuine, unforgettable experience to every visitor. The resort boasts exquisite accommodations, world-class dining, and a variety of recreational and event facilities that appeal to travelers seeking the pinnacle of luxury and service excellence. The Penrose Room, one of The Broadmoor's signature dining venues, features reimagined refined service and elevated cuisine presented within an elegant setting that upholds the resort's commitment to impeccable quality and memorable guest experiences.
The Penrose Room is currently seeking a Food Runner to join their passionate and dedicated team. This full-time position offers competitive compensation between $18.00 and $25.00 per hour, inclusive of an hourly base wage plus service charge commissions. Historically, Food Runners at The Penrose Room typically earn service charge commission earnings of $13 to $20 per hour, varying according to events and seasonal demand. Regardless of fluctuating commissions, this position guarantees earning at least the current Colorado minimum wage, ensuring stable compensation for all team members.
As a Food Runner at The Penrose Room, you will be an essential liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house teams, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of dishes. You will be responsible for managing and organizing tickets on the expo line, maintaining proper pacing and course timing in coordination with servers and captains. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will conduct detailed quality control checks on all plates before they leave the kitchen—verifying presentation, temperature, and accuracy to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction. Communication with chefs, line cooks, and service staff is vital to synchronize orders and minimize delays.
The role requires the ability to multitask and prioritize orders efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You will monitor dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests, ensuring proper handling and communication throughout the team. Maintaining a clean and organized expediting station during service is also a key responsibility. Your support in managing course firing cadence and clearing will enhance the overall dining experience for guests.
Beyond operational duties, you represent The Penrose Room and The Broadmoor brand by upholding luxury service standards consistently. You will deliver dishes promptly and accurately, announce and describe menu items confidently, and handle plates and service ware carefully to maintain the integrity of food presentation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with table clearing and resetting, understanding thorough menu knowledge, and abiding by all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. This role demands composure under pressure, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a professional attitude to maintain the excellence associated with The Broadmoor's renowned hospitality.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food and beverage service who are eager to contribute to a prestigious resort environment. You will join a team of world-class professionals dedicated to providing distinguished service and creating memorable experiences. Whether you are beginning your career in luxury hospitality or looking to enhance your skills within a renowned establishment, The Penrose Room offers a supportive and rewarding work atmosphere with significant opportunities for career development and growth within The Broadmoor family.
