The Food Runner role at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is an integral position responsible for ensuring that each guest’s dining experience is seamless and enjoyable. The food runner serves as the behind-the-scenes hero, facilitating communication between the kitchen and the dining room, swiftly delivering food and beverages, and assisting servers whenever needed. This role requires attention to detail, a welcoming attitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The food runner acts as a key player in maintaining smooth service flow and contributes directly to guest satisfaction and overall service quality.

In this role, you will gain valuable experience in upscale food and beverage service, learning the intricacies of menu items, beverage selections, and guest interaction protocols. You will assist with presenting menus, answering guest inquiries, and providing recommendations when appropriate. Additionally, responsibilities include preparing food presentations, organizing supplies, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring service areas remain tidy and well-maintained. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in upscale restaurant, hotel/resort, or private club preferred
  • Certification in liquor, wine, and food service including Alcohol Awareness preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Strong multitasking and communication skills
  • Must meet minimum age requirements and comply with responsible alcohol service standards
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, and perform other movements for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in upscale restaurant, hotel/resort, or private club preferred

  • Strong multitasking and communication skills
  • Ability to meet responsible alcohol service standards

Job Duties

  • Address guests by name and observe and respond to requests
  • Assist servers with presenting menus and answering questions
  • Prepare baskets with condiments and ensure orders are accurate and presentable
  • Serve food and beverages to guests with a positive attitude
  • Monitor supplies and maintain stock levels
  • Keep kitchen and café areas clean and orderly
  • Complete daily and weekly checklists and perform additional duties as assigned
