Job Description

The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, located amidst the picturesque rolling hills, citrus groves, and desert landscapes of San Diego, offers a unique blend of vintage luxury, history, and tradition. This property has recently undergone a comprehensive renaissance, reviving the charm of a simpler era where elegance and abundant hospitality define the guest experience. Known for its time-honored traditions and vibrant Southern California ambiance, The Inn is a retreat that celebrates comfort and refined living.

Managed under the umbrella of Evolution Hospitality, the lifestyle vertical of Aimbridge, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe benefits from a dedicated team focused on creating distinct lifestyle experiences across a curated collection of independent, luxury, boutique, lifestyle, and soft brand hotels. Evolution Hospitality is recognized for balancing culture and results, incorporating honesty, humility, intellect, and ability in all team members. This ethos fosters continual personal and professional growth, making Evolution Hospitality a world-class entity in the hospitality sector.

The Director of Catering plays a crucial leadership role at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, responsible for directly overseeing the catering and food and beverage sales goals. This role is pivotal in the hotel’s revenue generation, meeting planner satisfaction, and overall success of the food and beverage catering division. The Director manages a catering team, ensuring the contracted food and beverage minimums are met while servicing catering clients with exceptional professional standards. This position demands a strategic vision and a meticulous understanding of the hotel’s operational policies to maintain high standards in catering and sales.

The Director of Catering collaborates closely with the Director of Sales and hotel leadership to drive meeting planner satisfaction scores and achieve sales objectives. This exempt, managerial role requires regular oversight of at least three full-time associates or equivalents and involves more than half of the job duties being administrative, executive, or professional in nature. Decision-making, discretion, and independent judgment are essential components, emphasizing the importance of leadership and business acumen in this role.

Ideal candidates for this position will bring a wealth of experience in hotel catering sales, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to lead a diverse team effectively. The role involves managing human resources activities such as hiring, training, coaching, and conducting performance reviews, as well as engaging with clients and community stakeholders to uphold the hotel’s public image and sales momentum. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring accuracy and timely communication of banquet event orders and stays informed about industry trends and market segments.

Overall, this position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the success of a prestigious hotel property, contribute to a vibrant community, and advance one’s career in a dynamic, hospitality-driven environment. The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, supported by Evolution Hospitality’s commitment to excellence and employee growth, provides an inspiring and rewarding workplace for the Director of Catering.
