The Bar Food and Beverage Coordinator role at Mandarin Oriental New York is an exciting opportunity within the Food and Beverage Department. This position focuses on managing reservations for The Bar, assisting with seating guests, and ensuring the bar area is guest-ready with an impeccable atmosphere. Responsibilities include setting up menus, arranging flowers, responding to guest inquiries, and providing legendary quality service that aligns with the Mandarin Oriental brand values.

The Bar Food and Beverage Coordinator directly supports the Bar Manager and Food and Beverage Manager to sustain an exceptional guest experience. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will use reservation systems to handle bookings, ensure the bar environment is clean and inviting, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of menu offerings to assist guests effectively.

This role is integral to creating memorable experiences for the hotel’s guests by coordinating special events such as holiday brunches, wine dinners, and cooking classes, including handling prepayments and arranging set menus for small groups. Close communication with various hotel departments ensures seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction. Additionally, the Coordinator works alongside the Marketing team to update social media with current bar offerings and events, further promoting the hotel’s vibrant dining scene.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food and beverage coordination or related hospitality role preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with reservation and office management systems

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage menus

Job Duties

  • Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure guest satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement

  • Follow the posted opening and closing duties
  • Take accurate and complete reservations using reservation system
  • Respond to guest emails
  • Assist to set and maintain The Bar room environment and material perfectly clean
  • Maintain necessary knowledge of menu items to assist guest
  • Assist guest and colleagues courteously and efficiently
  • Use the guest's name appropriately and communicate it to restaurant colleagues and managers so that they can use it as well
  • Assist in seating guests
  • Assist Bar colleagues to prepare for service
  • Sell gift certificates for restaurants
  • Communicate other necessary information with colleagues (i.e.: Birthdays, Anniversaries, Special requests)
  • Handle reservations and prepayment for special events, holiday brunches, wine dinner, cooking classes, etc.
  • Coordinate set menus for small groups and distribute copies of the event form accordingly
  • Maintain cleanliness or the menus and print out menus as needed
  • Inform Food and Beverage managers on a daily basis of reservations forecast
  • Share information of all upcoming events with relevant hotel teams
  • Assist in monitoring all guest needs
  • Log in information about our guest preferences
  • Check on a daily basis for our regular guest preferences and record them in our daily list for the service
  • Print and post daily DCF
  • Work with Marketing team to update social media accounts with bar offerings and events
  • Maintain and organize table flowers
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings
  • When necessary, assist Food and Beverage Coordinators with service in the MO Lounge
  • Prepare summary report at end of shift
  • Follow all Forbes and LQE Standards of service at all times
