With annualized revenues nearing $8 billion, ABM offers a diverse portfolio of services ranging from janitorial, engineering, and parking to electrical and lighting, HVAC and mechanical, landscape and turf maintenance, energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and specialized mission-critical solutions. Their clientele spans various industries including commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and entertainment venues among others.

The company prides itself on fostering equality and inclusiveness, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. Additionally, ABM offers excellent accommodations to individuals with disabilities and operates within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program to confirm employment eligibility. With a strong military-friendly culture, ABM invests in providing world-class training programs, creating career opportunities for veterans and service personnel seeking to transition into civilian roles within the company.

The role of Test Technician II within ABM’s Electrical Power Services team, located in Tempe, Arizona, is a critical position dedicated to ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical power distribution systems across a variety of highly demanding environments. This position involves performing inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning activities on electrical power equipment including breakers, transformers, protective devices, substations, and medium-voltage systems. These activities are carried out with strict adherence to OSHA and NFPA 70E safety regulations, underscoring ABM’s commitment to safety and quality.

The Test Technician II will primarily support clients in commercial, industrial, governmental, data center, semiconductor, utility, and mission-critical facilities throughout Arizona, with occasional projects across other western U.S. states such as California, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, and Texas. Pay for the role ranges from $50 to $57 per hour, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, skills, and geographic location. ABM also offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees supporting their overall well-being.

Responsibilities include acceptance testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment, substation testing, system diagnostics, and the collection and analysis of transformer oil samples. The technician will utilize knowledge of electrical theory, safe operation of test equipment, and technical drawings interpretation to identify and alert for any abnormalities requiring corrective measures. Documentation using PowerDB reporting and communicating detailed findings with project teams and clients is an integral part of this role.

Travel is moderate, typically within a 50-mile radius of Tempe, with some projects requiring up to 10-15 percent travel outside the state, with provisions including a company vehicle and per diem allowances. Candidates for this position are expected to possess NETA Level II certification or equivalent electrical testing experience, with 3-5 years in the field, and expertise in testing circuit breakers, transformers, medium- and low-voltage cable systems, protective relays, and substation equipment. The ideal Test Technician is independent, highly organized, safety-conscious, and communicative, with strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-oriented approach. This role also offers opportunities to mentor junior technicians and participate in emergency and scheduled outage responses, making it dynamic and vital for the continuous improvement of ABM’s power services operation.
