Job Description
Backyard Products has been a cherished name in transforming Americas backyards into beloved staycation destinations since 1975. With decades of passion and expertise in outdoor living enhancements, Backyard Products has evolved into a prominent parent company for two specialized brands: Lawn Master Outdoor Living and Big Timber Structures. These companies place great emphasis on adding beauty, functionality, and value through expertly crafted outdoor shade structures. Lawn Master Outdoor Living is renowned for providing custom high-end pergolas and pavilions, tailored to customers who seek a distinctive and luxurious outdoor living ambiance. An award-winning partner of The Home Depot for over ten years, Lawn Master combines premium timber structures with unique custom design capabilities to create unparalleled outdoor experiences. Big Timber Structures complements this by offering American-made timber carports, gazebos, pergolas, and pavilions through a direct-to-consumer model. Known for superior craftsmanship and an exceptional customer experience, Big Timber serves homeowners and business owners nationwide, delivering quality and style in every project.
The role available is for a Territory Manager (TM) within the Lawn Master and Big Timber brands, focused on the Houston, TX area. This is a full-time, remote-friendly position with a flexible work-from-home schedule. The Territory Manager will represent these high-end product lines, overseeing residential and commercial projects from consultation through completion. Unlike typical sales roles, this territory management position encompasses responsibilities such as managing construction projects, conducting onsite consultations, and designing custom outdoor shade structures to match clients visions. The TM will manage warm leads primarily generated through displays and marketing partnerships with big box retailers like Home Depot. Supported by dedicated teams including customer service, marketing, design, and production at headquarters in Waxahachie, TX, the TM is empowered to grow sales volumes with a target of $750,000 to $1 million in installed units annually.
Key responsibilities of this role include conducting client consultations virtually and in person, managing multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating closely with design and permitting teams, and maintaining strong relationships with retail partners through training and partnership meetings. The TM will travel throughout their territory to meet clients and partners, requiring a clean driving record and willingness for occasional overnight travel. This role offers an attractive compensation package featuring a base salary of $48,000 to $50,000, plus a lucrative 3% commission on all sales with no cap on earning potential. Total expected annual income ranges between $70,000 and $85,000, enhanced by performance bonuses and sales contests. The company also provides comprehensive benefits, including 401(k) with matching, company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, company technology devices, medical, dental, vision, life insurance options, paid time off, employee discounts, and more.
This position is ideal for highly organized, self-motivated individuals with a professional demeanor, basic construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a sales and territory management environment. Experience in residential or commercial outside sales, construction, landscaping, real estate, or project management is preferred but not mandatory. Potential candidates should possess strong communication skills, general computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and CRM software, and be comfortable with a flexible work schedule focused on client and project needs. Joining Backyard Products means becoming part of a vibrant company dedicated to making backyards across the country extraordinary places to live and entertain, supported by industry-leading products and a passionate team committed to success.
