The role of Territory Manager - Interventional Pain for Alabama (Birmingham and Mobile) at Avanos Medical is a key position responsible for driving the sales and adoption of interventional pain management products within the assigned territory, which includes Alabama, Northern Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. This position entails managing both capital equipment sales and consumable products such as nerve ablation needles and radiofrequency ablation devices. Success in this role requires a strategic, analytical approach to grow market share, increase product utilization, and build long-term relationships with healthcare professionals such as surgeons, physicians, and department decision makers in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinics. The Territory Manager works closely with healthcare providers to understand their needs and address their pain management challenges with innovative solutions offered by Avanos. Utilizing CRM and other sales analytics tools, the manager will continually optimize sales funnels and develop effective contract strategies, including local price negotiations, to meet business objectives. This role demands strong communication skills, adaptability, and persistence, as well as the ability to manage travel and occasional weekend commitments related to trade shows and customer engagements. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Manager, the Territory Manager is a crucial player in the strategic and tactical planning to expand Avanos’ footprint in the interventional pain landscape. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or any related field
  • At least three years of demonstrated success in medical device sales
  • Understanding of hospital/ASC buying process including role of GPO’s, IDN’s, and distributors
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies including fee for service, value-based care and alternative payment methods
  • Ability to think strategically and constructively challenge status quo
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to travel frequently and overnight
  • Occasional tradeshow attendance on weekends required
  • Minimum of seven years working with PC based applications windows, word, excel, and powerpoint
  • Deep understanding of medical terminology and clinical practices
  • Evidence of continued personal and professional growth and development
  • Ability to lead in the face of ambiguity
  • Persistence to achieve long-term objectives in the face of obstacles
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds

  • Experience working in the pain management field (preferred)
  • Capital equipment sales experience (preferred)
  • Hospital, Operating Room, and physician sales experience (preferred)
  • Five years or more of medical device sales experience with documented growth and achievements (preferred)
  • Experience with relevant sales software (preferred)
  • Demonstrated market development and growth (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain relationships with surgeons, physicians, therapists, nurses, clinicians, department decision makers and/or administrators within assigned accounts or markets
  • Optimize opportunities and generate new customer leads while actively protecting existing market share
  • Develop and maintain expertise across a range of products and product platforms
  • Manage a Capital Sales Funnel, as well as increase utilization at existing accounts
  • Drive contract management, including local price negotiations
  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve business objectives
  • Actively participate with Regional Manager in the strategic and tactical planning process
  • Sales positioning, analysis, and in-servicing of product categories that address customers' pain points
  • Implementation of the business and selling activities required to meet objectives
