Working primarily in front of customers on hibachi tables, you will not only prepare and cook a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables but also maintain cleanliness and sanitation of your work area. Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Ability to engage and entertain guests while cooking
  • Strong communication skills to interact with guests and team members
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform cooking tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provide guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon inquiries
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preference and follow their instructions
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and chef carts
  • Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment clean and sanitary
  • Report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
  • Comply with company’s standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes and service cycle
  • Prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adhere to company guidelines on proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Handle, store, label and rotate foods according to health safety and laws using FIFO method
  • Use knives, hand tools and utensils for food preparation
  • Adhere to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manner with guests
  • Notify manager on duty immediately if guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs
  • Participate in special occasion celebrations and may be asked to photograph or be photographed with guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor
