- previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
Job Duties
- Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction
- provide guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
- respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
- ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
- prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using various kitchen equipment
- perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, chef carts and floors
- maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
- report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
- prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications
- adhere to proper food presentation and garnishing guidelines
- handle, store, label and rotate foods in compliance with safety and health regulations
- use knives and tools to prepare food items
- present a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
- notify manager of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
- participate in special occasion celebrations
- perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
