Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ability to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to engage and entertain guests
  • experience with food preparation and safety
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • availability to perform opening and closing duties
  • physical stamina to stand and work in a fast-paced restaurant environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction
  • provide guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
  • prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using various kitchen equipment
  • perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, chef carts and floors
  • maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
  • report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
  • prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications
  • adhere to proper food presentation and garnishing guidelines
  • handle, store, label and rotate foods in compliance with safety and health regulations
  • use knives and tools to prepare food items
  • present a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • notify manager of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • participate in special occasion celebrations
  • perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
