This particular role centers around being a Teppan Chef, where the employee is responsible for entertaining, engaging, and interacting with guests while crafting delicious dishes right in front of them on the hibachi tables. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Ability to engage and entertain guests
  • Knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
  • Ability to perform cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan orders
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preferences and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, chef carts, and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, cooking areas, and food storage clean, sanitary, and organized
  • Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
  • Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, recipes, and quality
  • Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications
  • Adheres to proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Handles, stores, labels, and rotates foods properly according to safety regulations
  • Uses knives and kitchen tools for preparing food
  • Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
  • Notifies manager on duty if guests are unsatisfied or if accidents occur
  • Participates in creating memorable guest special occasion celebrations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor
