Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
- Ability to engage and entertain guests
- Knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
- Ability to perform cleaning and maintenance duties
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as a chef or cook highly desirable
Job Duties
- Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan orders
- Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
- Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Asks guests for cooking preferences and follows guest instructions
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
- Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, chef carts, and floors
- Maintains kitchen, cooking areas, and food storage clean, sanitary, and organized
- Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
- Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, recipes, and quality
- Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications
- Adheres to proper food presentation and garnishes
- Handles, stores, labels, and rotates foods properly according to safety regulations
- Uses knives and kitchen tools for preparing food
- Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
- Notifies manager on duty if guests are unsatisfied or if accidents occur
- Participates in creating memorable guest special occasion celebrations
- Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor
