Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Able to engage and entertain guests effectively
  • Capable of following detailed cooking procedures and guest requests
  • Must adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • Ability to entertain guests while cooking
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Skill in using various kitchen equipment

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Perform cooking shows for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is courteous and appropriate
  • Provide guests with information about Benihana foods as they are prepared or upon inquiry
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow their instructions
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using various kitchen equipment
  • Perform shift opening and closing cleaning duties as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, cooking areas, and equipment
  • Follow company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes and service cycle
  • Prepare foods according to company portion and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adhere to company guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
  • Handle, store, label and rotate foods properly following health safety laws and FIFO methods
  • Use knives and kitchen tools to portion, cut, and prepare food
  • Comply with company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manner with all guests
  • Notify manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents promptly
  • Participate in ensuring memorable guest special occasion celebrations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
