Job Description
Newmark is a leading commercial real estate services firm known for its innovative approach and commitment to creating superior environments for its clients and tenants. With a strong presence across various key markets including Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Novato, Burbank, Bellevue, and New York, Newmark excels in managing diverse portfolios of commercial office properties. The company's dedication to community engagement and tenant satisfaction sets it apart as a forward-thinking organization striving to build vibrant, dynamic building atmospheres that foster connection and collaboration among tenants. As a company, Newmark offers a supportive culture that values creativity, proactivity, and adaptable problem-solving skills, making it an excellent workplace for professionals passionate about real estate and tenant relations.
The Tenant Engagement Coordinator role at Newmark is integral to maintaining a lively and engaging community within the commercial office portfolio. Reporting directly to the Portfolio Manager and based full-time on-site in Walnut Creek, CA, this position serves as the primary liaison for tenant engagement and community events across an expanding portfolio. The coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing a wide range of tenant programs and events designed to enhance tenant experiences and strengthen tenant relationships within the buildings. This role demands a highly organized individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and can independently manage multiple priorities with a solution-oriented mindset.
The coordinator’s responsibilities include orchestrating a comprehensive calendar of tenant events, encompassing daily and weekly activities, monthly wellness and recognition programs, major annual events, and community outreach initiatives. This role not only involves event planning but also engagement strategy, acting as the key point of contact for annual tenant surveys and collaborating with property management and ownership teams to develop and maintain engagement strategies and budgets. The position requires continual innovation in event concepts and offerings to keep the community vibrant and responsive to tenant needs.
Supporting the Walnut Creek properties specifically, the Tenant Engagement Coordinator will manage building conference centers, produce weekly newsletters, and serve as the initial contact for tenant communications and access-related matters. Additional tasks include coordinating conference room reservations, managing work orders, supporting building access card administration, and overseeing fitness center access. The role requires physical activity such as mobility around large commercial properties, lifting event supplies, and enduring long periods on the feet during events while being prepared for periodic travel within the portfolio.
Technical proficiency with software tools like Canva, Constant Contact, Yardi, Monday.com, Microsoft Office suite, and Dropbox is essential for managing communications and event coordination effectively. Superior communication skills—both written and verbal—are vital for successful tenant interaction and newsletter creation. The role demands flexibility and the ability to pivot plans quickly in response to tenant or ownership requests.
The salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, education, and certifications. In addition to the base salary, Newmark offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. There are also opportunities for discretionary bonuses and other incentive compensation. Newmark promotes an inclusive workplace that provides equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
