This establishment not only provides a versatile venue but also commits to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff. The Ocean Center employs a dedicated team of event staff who play a critical role in ensuring smooth event operations, safety, and customer satisfaction.
This job opportunity is for a Temporary Event Staff position, available on an as-needed basis and contingent on the demands of the event schedule at the Ocean Center. This role does not exceed 30 hours per week, and candidates selected for these positions are considered at-will employees without eligibility for county benefits. The positions offered include various roles such as Event Supervisor, Security Office Staff, Dock Monitor, Facility Monitor, Ticket Taker Supervisor, Ticket Taker, Usher Supervisor, Usher, and Setup Crews. Each role is essential to the seamless operation of events and involves direct communication with the Operations Manager to coordinate event activities and staffing requirements.
The Event Supervisor position involves overseeing assigned staff, conducting pre-event briefings, coordinating in-event activities, maintaining security throughout the venue, and ensuring thorough communication with the Operations Manager regarding any incidents or operational needs. Security Office Staff are responsible for monitoring security cameras, managing lost and found items, receiving deliveries, and ensuring the building is secure at the end of shifts. Dock Monitors control access to dock areas during events, facilitating smooth load-ins and load-outs, and enforcing restricted area access. Facility Monitors oversee specific areas or doors, ensuring compliance with venue policies like no re-entry and no outside food and beverage rules.
Ticket Taker Supervisors and Ticket Takers manage the entry of patrons, verifying tickets, and ensuring fast and efficient crowd flow, often utilizing handheld scanners for ticket validation. Ushers and Usher Supervisors focus on patron assistance, seating management, monitoring crowd behavior, and ensuring compliance with event rules. Lastly, Setup Crews are responsible for the physical setup and breakdown of event spaces, including moving furniture, staging, and providing customer service to clients and guests.
Candidates must be prepared for flexible work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with physical demands requiring standing for extended periods and occasional handling of materials weighing up to 10 pounds. The Ocean Center emphasizes professionalism, courteous interaction with patrons, thorough knowledge of facility policies, and a commitment to safety and efficient event operations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking temporary, part-time work in a dynamic event environment where teamwork and attentive service are highly valued.
