Job Description
El Programa Hispano Catolico (EPHC) is a well-established nonprofit organization committed to empowering individuals and communities through comprehensive support programs. Founded nearly 40 years ago, EPHC's mission focuses on advancing racial equity and social justice by leveraging the power of Latine roots, culture, and community. Through a holistic approach, the organization addresses social determinants of health by providing services in key areas such as Housing, Economic Sustainability, Education, Community Wellness, and Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault (DV/SA) Prevention and Intervention. Serving over 30,000 individuals annually, EPHC employs more than 100 dedicated staff members, most of whom are bilingual and bicultural, ensuring culturally relevant services that meet the diverse needs of the Latine community. While affiliated with the Catholic Charities Network, EPHC operates inclusively, welcoming staff and service participants of all faiths or none, united by respect for human dignity and the common good.
The Extended Day Coordinator (EDC) role is an integral position within the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) initiative, a collaborative effort between Multnomah County, the School District, and EPHC. The Coordinator will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the SUN Community School program at a designated school site, primarily Highland Elementary. The role demands leadership in program development that enhances academic performance, enrichment opportunities, recreational activities, and social services for students and families. The EDC will work closely with school principals, staff, families, and community partners to create culturally-specific, engaging after-school programming aimed at increasing student attendance and motivation.
Significant emphasis is placed on community engagement as the Coordinator actively supports family leadership teams and organizes events such as Back to School Night, SUN Showcase evenings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Family Leadership meetings. Duties include administrative responsibilities like registration management, attendance tracking, document preparation, and grant reporting. The Coordinator also maintains the Grouptrail database, ensuring accurate participant intake and data tracking. This position requires flexibility to work after-school hours, occasional evenings, summer hours, and potential travel for trainings or community meetings. The role offers a temporary contract through August 15th, 2026, with a competitive hourly wage of $22.00. Candidates will benefit from working in a vibrant, community-focused environment with continuous growth opportunities, contributing to profound social impact and community wellness.
