This temporary Executive Chef position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Cogir Senior Living’s mission by overseeing the culinary operations of one of its vibrant communities. As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day dining services, ensuring residents receive a positive and enjoyable dining experience. This role involves comprehensive leadership of the kitchen and dining venues, including food procurement, preparation, menu development, and service management. You will also handle financial aspects such as food, supplies, and labor budgets to maintain operational efficiency and profitability.

Your responsibilities will extend to hiring, training, and supervising the culinary and dining staff, both front-of-house and back-of-house, ensuring compliance with company policies and health regulations. Inventory control, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence are integral aspects of this role. Additionally, the position includes planning and executing special events and themed meals that enhance the resident experience.

Temporary employment in this role is designed to support the community's operational needs with the possibility of conversion to permanent status. Salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $95,000 annually. Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • at least 5 years of hands-on food preparation experience
  • minimum 3 years of management experience as an Executive Chef
  • Serve Safe Manager certification required
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation and food codes
  • ability to manage culinary staff and operations
  • experience with budgeting and financial management
  • strong communication and leadership skills
  • passion for resident satisfaction and quality service

Job Qualifications

  • A culinary degree is preferred, or a combination of education and experience
  • at least 5 years of hands-on experience in food preparation
  • at least 3 years of progressive management experience as an Executive Chef with an understanding of front-of-the-house operations and service
  • Serve Safe Manager (Food Handler Certification) with an understanding of kitchen sanitation and food codes
  • creativity and experience in menu development
  • successful history of building teams and meeting financial goals
  • outstanding communication skills and the ability to motivate
  • compassion for residents and a strong passion for excellence
  • experience with restaurant openings is a plus
  • experience with special events and banquets is a plus
  • previous experience working in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Senior Living, or hotel environments is a plus

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and staffing of the community kitchen and dining venues
  • manages and supervises all culinary services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review, hiring, and corrective action consistent with company policy
  • menu planning and executing meal preparation and events, assisting staff with back and front-of-the-house operations as needed
  • maintain inventory control of food, beverages, supplies, and equipment
  • ensure that all food is prepared, stored, and served according to company standards and with state and/or local health code requirements
  • understand and maintain monthly and annual budgets for the culinary services department, including producing written documentation of monthly food, supplies, and labor spending
  • collaborate with staff and residents to plan and develop recipes and menus tailored to residents' preferences and monthly budgets
  • ensure resident and family member satisfaction is maintained
  • responsible for planning, preparing, and executing special events and themed meals
