Job Description

The Ned NoMad is a distinguished members' club and hotel located in the vibrant heart of New York City. This establishment serves as the first international extension of The Ned, a prestigious brand that made its debut in London in 2017. The Ned NoMad proudly opened its doors in the summer of 2022, bringing a unique blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury to one of the city's most exciting neighborhoods. Situated in the historic Johnston Building, a structure with a rich history dating back to 1903 and formerly known as the NoMad Hotel, the property combines architectural heritage with modern design elements curated by the renowned Soho House Design team. This meticulous preservation and thoughtful renovation have resulted in a venue that embraces its original character while offering an innovative and stylish experience to members and guests alike.

The Ned NoMad features a versatile array of spaces, comprising 167 elegantly appointed bedrooms and suites, providing guests with an intimate and sophisticated urban retreat. Its amenities include a rooftop bar and terrace restaurant, a first-floor bar, grill, and lounge, as well as a vibrant nightly entertainment program at The Atrium Stage. Dining options are exceptional, featuring Cecconi's, a modern Italian restaurant inspired by classic mid-century trattoria concepts, and Little Ned, a chic cocktail bar boasting splendid views of the iconic Empire State Building.

We are seeking a part-time, contract Concierge to join our Front Office team and report directly to the Front Office Manager. This role is critical in delivering an exceptional guest experience and requires a highly organized, autonomous professional capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. At The Ned NoMad, we value a fast-paced yet supportive work culture where teamwork and communication across departments are essential. The Concierge position demands a customer-focused approach with meticulous attention to detail to ensure every guest interaction reflects the highest standards of hospitality.

The Concierge will be a friendly and helpful presence who assists guests and members throughout their stay by providing comprehensive knowledge of our services, amenities, membership options, and operating hours. Responsibilities include facilitating guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently, managing billing procedures, and accommodating guest preferences whenever possible. Additionally, the Concierge will provide personalized recommendations, assist with reservations, and ensure that all guest requests are accurately logged in the hotel management system.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in various hotel service software such as Opera PMS, KnowCross, Alice, and Micros, and comfortable navigating a range of technology platforms including Microsoft Office and Internet applications. A flexible work schedule, including availability on evenings and weekends, is required to meet the dynamic needs of our diverse clientele.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Able to handle a large volume of guest interactions in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Must be able to seize grasp turn and hold objects with hands
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods
  • Fast paced movements occasionally required to go from one part of the club to others
  • Must be able to understand and communicate clearly with guests members and coworkers
  • Must be able to reach and handle the computer keyboard and desktop items
  • Occasionally kneel bend crouch and climb as required

Job Qualifications

  • One year hotel or related experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Effective in handling problems including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Internet and other hotel programs such as Opera PMS KnowCross Alice Micros

Job Duties

  • Creating a friendly comfortable and helpful atmosphere for guests and members that demonstrates the highest standards of hospitality
  • Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with colleagues and other departments
  • Possess knowledge of all hotel services membership options facilities outlet operating hours and amenities
  • Checking guests in ensuring they are assigned the type of room requested and taking their personal preferences into account when possible setting-up proper billing instructions routing and processing
  • Checking guests out ascertaining their satisfaction collecting keys posting relevant charges accurately settling and then presenting bill to guest
  • Providing guests with recommendations and information regarding activities transportation dining and assisting them with reservations as needed and logging all requests in Alice or system
  • Input correct information profile notes in appropriate fields profile notes reservation notes traces alerts to inform other departments of pertinent information
  • Assisting guests members or third parties with special requests as needed
  • Understanding all aspects of the Front Office in the hotels and Room Service Point of Sale system and Menu offerings
  • Understand all fire safety procedures including OSHA requirements and provide necessary assistance to guests and employees in the event of an emergency
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager Night Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager
