With a strong presence in the retail industry, Giant Eagle takes pride in fostering a community that values compassion, care, and respect among its Team Members and the communities it serves. The company prioritizes growth, collaboration, and meaningful career development for its employees, making it a sought-after employer for individuals aiming to make a positive impact and build a fulfilling career. Known for its supportive environment, Giant Eagle offers a workplace where employees can thrive professionally while contributing to the company's ongoing success and community-oriented mission.
The role of Retail Service Maintenance Technician II at Giant Eagle is a specialized position focused on providing break-fix support for IT hardware across various retail locations. This position plays a critical part in ensuring that the company's technology infrastructure remains reliable and efficient, directly affecting the daily operations of all Giant Eagle stores and their subsidiaries. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a range of hardware including desktops, laptops, printing devices, mobile computing equipment, POS hardware, and audio-visual systems. The role demands a high level of technical expertise, as well as excellent problem-solving skills to address customer hardware issues promptly and effectively.
This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with hardware and software installations, preferably in a retail environment, along with over three years of supporting Microsoft Windows workstation software. Candidates should be comfortable handling small to medium-scale projects and possess certifications such as A+ and/or MCDST, which signify proficiency and professionalism in IT support. The job also involves regional daily travel, accounting for more than 50% of working time, and includes physical demands such as lifting up to 100 pounds.
Responsibilities include responding to technical issues, installing and maintaining hardware, providing clear documentation and guidance to customers, and participating actively in the company’s IS Service Desk to support 24/7 customer needs. The technician is expected to assist in testing, monitoring, configuring, and rolling out software and system updates, ensuring that hardware policies are enforced and that all activities comply with company standards. Continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends and new technologies is encouraged, alongside participating in team projects and mentoring junior technicians to maintain high-quality service standards.
The compensation for this role falls within the range of $22.35 to $26.075 per hour or equivalent annual salary, with actual pay determined by individual experience, skills, education, and location. Eligible employees will also have access to a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid personal and sick time, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, bonus potential, paid bereavement leave, vacation, and holidays. This blend of competitive pay, meaningful benefits, and a supportive work atmosphere makes the Retail Service Maintenance Technician II role at Giant Eagle a rewarding opportunity for skilled IT technicians who thrive in dynamic retail environments.
