Job Description
Avient Corporation is a leading global provider of specialized polymer materials and services that help customers succeed in a wide range of industries. Known for its innovation in materials science, Avient combines creativity, expertise, and sustainability to develop solutions that transform possibilities into realities. The company's diverse workforce of approximately 9,000 professionals spans the globe, encompassing roles in finance, technology, operations, human resources, and materials development. Avient emphasizes an inclusive culture where diversity of thought and background drives creativity and success in a rapidly changing world. They are committed to equal opportunity employment, fostering an environment where employees are valued for their qualifications, experience, and performance, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected statuses.
The position being offered is a Product Batch Tester role within one of Avient's manufacturing plants. This is a shift work opportunity with a 3rd shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday. The pay range is competitive, from $19.36 to $29.04 per hour, depending on the candidate's background, skills, and geographic location. This role is integral to maintaining Avient's high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. The Product Batch Tester is responsible for performing standard tests on production batches and incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with both Avient's internal standards and customer specifications. By testing and analyzing product batches, this role helps to identify any issues early in the production process and recommends adjustments when necessary to meet quality benchmarks.
In addition to testing and adjustments, the Product Batch Tester manages the maintenance of Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers, documents test results in SAP, and ensures that all testing equipment is properly verified. The role may also involve participation in investigations related to customer complaints, applying corrective actions where needed. Safety and compliance are a fundamental part of the position, requiring adherence to workplace rules and environmental standards, including the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and other gear depending on the work area. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee will work in environments fluctuating from moderate to loud noise levels and may be exposed to mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and vibration.
Overall, the Product Batch Tester plays a critical role in upholding Avient's commitment to quality and innovation. Working in this capacity provides a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing sustainable solutions within a company that values leadership at all levels, collaboration, and continuous development. Employees in this role benefit from comprehensive health and retirement plans, paid time off, and a workplace culture that encourages professional growth and respect for diversity.
