Job Description
Universal Kids Resort is a premier entertainment destination known for its immersive water attractions, splash pads, and hotel amenities. Renowned for providing exceptional family-friendly experiences, the resort boasts a variety of water-based attractions and onsite pools that require rigorous maintenance and safety protocols to ensure guest satisfaction and safety. The Water Quality Technician role at Universal Kids Resort is a critical position responsible for maintaining the highest standards of water quality and safety across all water attractions, water play areas, splash pads, the hotel's onsite pool, and other assigned water environments. This role involves performing daily water quality operations, including testing and verification of water parameters to ensure compliance with environmental and health standards. The Water Quality Technician also handles mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and repairs of filtration systems, UV sterilization units, pumps, motors, and storm water infrastructure. They play a pivotal role in monitoring lift stations and storm water stations, conducting preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
In addition to technical responsibilities, the Water Quality Technician collaborates with environmental health and safety teams, regulatory bodies, and equipment vendors to maintain compliance and optimize operational efficiency. The role includes creating and maintaining detailed records, performing data entry, and supporting incident response and environmental protection measures. The technician is also responsible for training new technicians on venue-specific maintenance procedures and emergency recovery processes to uphold Universal Kids Resort’s commitment to excellence and guest safety.
This position is an individual contributor role requiring a flexible schedule to meet business needs. Training will be provided before the candidate begins inspection duties, ensuring full preparedness and adherence to Universal Kids Resort’s high standards. Certification as a Pool Operator is mandatory within 180 days of employment, with preferences given to candidates holding additional certifications such as Aquatic Facility Operator, Aquatic Pesticide Applicator’s license, SCUBA certification, and 24-hour HAZWOPER training.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of experience in water quality or related technical services required
- Certified Pool Operator license required within 180 days of employment
- Ability to work flexible and varying schedule based on business needs
- Ability to perform physical tasks including confined space entries
- Must be able to attend training prior to performing inspections
- Consistent attendance required
- Ability to follow environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures

Job Duties
- Perform inspections and daily operations by evaluating water conditions, chemical and/or waste for compliance by conducting sampling, performing inspection of equipment, tanks, and processes, evaluates data related to water and/or waste parameters
- Manage and coordinate diverse technical support activities conducted through contractors
- Provide evaluative field support per Environmental, Health & Safety’s requirements under regulatory and/or corporate policy requirements
- Collaborate with health department as directed for regulatory compliance and assist with annual renewal of permits
- Support equipment operation and maintenance of chemical feeders, pumps, motors, UV systems, VFD’s, electrical interfaces/cabinets and all supporting equipment, plumbing repairs, storm water infrastructure, lift station monitoring and repairs for storm/sanitary, tile and pool finish repair, confined space entries while performing work in space, direct read instruments, alarm systems, small combustion engines etc
- Maintain proper instrument calibration, operation and establish and maintain working relationships with equipment vendors for water and waste management equipment
- Maintain field-generated and office records, perform data entry, prepare logbooks, procedures, as-built drawings, O&Ms, safety training and ensure work order utilization
- Complete PQS qualification of attractions, water play areas/splash pads, hotel pool and any other assigned water area
- Create and complete Maximo work orders and completion reports
- Train new Technicians to do venue-specific preventative maintenance work orders and recovery processes and procedures
- Assist with emergency response and incident prevention by inspecting for release controls to include secondary containments, spill equipment, response supplies, erosion control, storm conveyance systems, emergency pumps, and overfill protections
- Respond to environmental incidents and take immediate action to control and/or stop further release related to water, chemicals and/or waste and perform proper cleaning/remediation when necessary
- Activate incident response as necessary and in accordance with EHS policy and regulation
- Perform modifications of electrical, mechanical and pool/venue systems as prescribed by OEM or engineering team, both internal and third-party specifications and direction
- Assist with seasonal weather condition sustainment initiatives as directed
- Ensure proper chemical/waste management through proper labeling, handling, application, inspection, storage and disposal of water, aquatic pest control and regulated waste
- Ensure water is prepared for proper transport as required
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
