The role of Technical Consultant in the Hospital Patient Monitoring business at Philips offers an exciting opportunity to launch or advance your career in the health technology industry. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience installing, configuring, integrating, and supporting advanced patient monitoring systems that are essential to clinical operations and patient safety. As a Technical Consultant, you will work both onsite and remotely, partnering with diverse customers such as hospitals, clinical teams, and internal service groups. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving technical issues that impact patient care workflows, ensuring reliable performance of complex monitoring solutions. This role demands a detailed understanding of IT systems, network troubleshooting, and medical device integration. You will play a critical role in the full lifecycle support of patient monitoring technologies, from initial installation and testing to ongoing configuration and support.
This position is field-based with approximately 75 percent travel required within the geographic area, including daily driving and occasional overnight stays, potentially using air or train travel. Work settings may vary widely from hospital environments where strict adherence to safety and credentialing is required, to remote office or home office settings. Flexibility around work hours is expected, including potential on-call duties, weekends, and overtime to meet business needs and ensure continuous support for critical healthcare systems.
Philips offers competitive compensation for this role with an hourly pay range of $29.00 to $45.00 depending on experience, plus eligibility for overtime pay. Job Requirements
- Travel for business approximately 75% travel with average driving time of 1-4 hours daily
- Ability to work in office home office remote and hospital healthcare settings complying with vendor credentialing requirements
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours including overtime weekends and on-call rotations
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
- US work authorization
- Residence in or within commuting distance of Salt Lake City UT
- Ability to meet physical cognitive and environmental job requirements with or without accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Associate degree in computer science biomedical engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferably bachelor’s degree
- 2.5+ years of professional experience in IT services or related technical environments preferably in hospital healthcare setting
- Experience with patient monitoring telemetry units ventilators and defibrillators highly preferred
- Foundational understanding of IT systems networking concepts and technical troubleshooting
- Computer networking certification preferred such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented collaborative problem solver

Job Duties
- Deliver onsite and remote technical support responding quickly to customer issues and minimizing clinical and operational workflow disruption
- Ensure reliable system performance by diagnosing and resolving system network and application issues using structured troubleshooting approaches
- Support the full lifecycle of complex patient monitoring and IT infrastructure solutions including installation configuration integration and testing
- Apply customer environment understanding to ensure effective system implementation optimized for long-term performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges using approved tools test equipment and diagnostic methodologies
- Analyze root causes and implement sustainable solutions that improve system stability and reduce recurring issues
- Maintain accurate detailed documentation of system configurations troubleshooting activities and support procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including senior engineers clinical partners sales and service teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Continuously build technical expertise and contribute to knowledge sharing and improvement initiatives
