Job Description
Kaldi's Coffee is a reputable specialty coffee company known for its commitment to quality and community engagement. Operating primarily in the St. Louis area, Kaldi's Coffee has established itself not only as a destination for high-quality coffee beverages and artisanal food items but also as a community-centric brand with deep roots in local culture. The company is dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment and providing exceptional service across all its venues, including its medical campus locations. These medical campus cafés are situated within the prestigious Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, serving a diverse clientele of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, researchers, and administrative staff. These unique locations prioritize efficiency, professionalism, and customer satisfaction in a setting where speed and accuracy are critical due to the fast-paced and health-adjacent nature of the environment.
The role offered is at Kaldi's Medical Campus cafés located throughout the WashU Medical Campus, including the Neuroscience Research Building, Siteman Cancer Center, and MCC. Unlike traditional coffee shop settings, this position demands a unique blend of hospitality, professionalism, and operational excellence tailored to the high standards of a medical environment. Employees working in these cafés will have responsibilities both front- and back-of-house, including taking orders, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining cleanliness and operational standards in compliance with health and safety protocols. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in structured, dynamic environments and who appreciate the importance of supporting healthcare professionals through quality food and beverage service.
This employment opportunity features a Monday through Friday schedule with no evenings or weekends, promoting a healthy work-life balance for team members. A minimum commitment of 3 to 5 shifts per week is required, ensuring consistency in staffing to meet the needs of the medical campus community. The compensation package starts at a base wage of $12 per hour, supplemented by a shared tip pool, with a guaranteed combined earning of $17 per hour. Full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week receive comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and gym reimbursement. There is also a retirement plan option with 401(k) eligibility after one year of service and an average of 20 or more hours worked weekly.
Kaldi's Coffee emphasizes internal growth opportunities, where many leads and managers have been promoted from floor staff positions, demonstrating the company's investment in developing its employees' careers. Employees benefit from a supportive culture that values reliability, clear communication, punctuality, and professionalism, particularly important in the healthcare-adjacent setting where the clientele expects high standards of service.
For those interested in joining a company that combines quality coffee, professional growth, and a meaningful work environment, this position offers a unique chance to contribute to the wellness of healthcare professionals through excellent café service in one of St. Louis's premier medical campuses.
