The role of Kitchen Team Member at Dojo Gelato is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in food preparation and kitchen operations within an artisanal gelato setting. The position involves a blend of responsibilities ranging from ingredient prepping, operating commercial kitchen equipment, to ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the work environment. As a Kitchen Team Member, you will be directly involved in prepping gelato base, sauces, sundae toppings, and inclusions - which are essential ingredients like cakes, cookies, or brittles added to gelato during production. Operating gelato batch freezers, commercial mixers, and ovens will be a regular part of your duties, making hands-on experience with such equipment highly beneficial.
Success in this role demands a positive mental attitude, quick learning ability, a strong sense of urgency and awareness, along with attention to detail that borders on perfectionism. The ability to multitask and stay organized is crucial, as the kitchen environment is fast-paced and requires meticulous coordination. While prior cooking or pastry experience is encouraged, it is not mandatory. The position starts part-time with potential to move to full-time depending on performance and preference. Working hours are based on weekday mornings through late afternoons, year-round, aligning with the production kitchen's schedule.
