The role involves being an active participant on the production floor, working closely with associates to maintain smooth operations. The candidate will serve as a key team member responsible for covering unplanned absences and vacation periods, ensuring no disruption in workflow. They will need to understand and manage all departmental reports and procedures, coordinate break and lunch schedules for associates, and oversee maintenance activities including preventive maintenance and work orders. The role also supports management in scheduling associates and requires an understanding of production needs to effectively execute departmental requirements.

A critical aspect of this position is promoting and enforcing quality and food safety standards, alongside maintaining GMPs. The individual will act as a role model for team associates, demonstrating leadership and dedication to best practices. They will plan and conduct training sessions for associates, including creating Skill Breakdown Sheets (SBSs) and delivering Job Instruction Training (JIT). Furthermore, the role demands driving continual improvement in plant operations by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and data to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency and quality.

In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will assume the duties of the Department Manager or Assistant Department Manager in their absence. This includes production scheduling, planning, and other leadership tasks necessary for seamless department functionality. Flexibility is important, as other duties may be assigned as needed to support plant operations and team success.
