The Team Leader position in Food Services at Children's Health is an on-site role based in Dallas, with work hours from Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, including rotating weekends. This pivotal role within the Food Services department carries the responsibility for managing daily operations in specific areas such as Production, Retail, Patient Services, or general operations, while also being knowledgeable and supportive across all food service areas. The Team Leader actively oversees food preparation and menu design, ensuring all food meets high-quality standards and complies with strict safety and sanitation regulations. An integral part of this role is training and leading a dedicated team of employees to maintain smooth and efficient kitchen and retail operations. The Team Leader must be adept in handling customer interactions, cash management, and service recovery to maintain excellent patient and customer satisfaction. They also play a key role in ensuring adherence to food safety practices and regulatory compliance, including HACCP, Texas Department of Health, and city health requirements. The position demands strong leadership skills to evaluate staff performance, resolve conflicts, and foster professional development among team members.

In supporting the production side, the Team Leader fills in for the Executive Chef when necessary, ensuring recipe compliance and quality control measures to deliver tasty and safe food. In retail operations, the focus shifts to managing front-of-house activities to ensure customer satisfaction and effective handling of cash and service issues. When supporting patient services, the Team Leader must be knowledgeable about various dietary requirements and ordering systems to troubleshoot and enhance service delivery effectively. The role also encompasses budget oversight, cost control, and analytical reporting using food service management software like cBord, Kronos, and Lawson. This comprehensive responsibility ensures operational excellence in every facet of Food Services at Children's Health, contributing directly to the organization's mission of improving children's lives.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years experience in food services preferred
  • Minimum 3 years food service leadership experience preferred
  • Obtain Certified Food Manager (CFM) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current status
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Texas Department of Health, and city regulatory requirements
  • Ability to manage teams and conduct staff evaluations
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Comfortable with cash handling and service recovery
  • Proficient with food service management software such as cBord, Kronos, and Lawson

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 5 years experience in food services preferred
  • At least 3 years food service leadership experience preferred
  • Certified Food Manager (CFM) certification within 30 days of hire
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) preferred for Patient Services Lead role
  • Culinary School preferred for Retail/Sous Chef role

Job Duties

  • Daily management of food service production operations and employees
  • Fill in for Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Ensure recipe compliance in all production areas
  • Resolve any production issues that arise
  • Order food and sanitation supplies as needed for production operations
  • Maintain HACCP compliance with Texas Department of Health and city regulatory requirements
  • Provide ongoing and initial training of staff to ensure competency
  • Recognize and adopt activities appropriate to the specific needs of patients
  • Conduct staff evaluations, conflict resolution, development, and reprimand
  • Oversee budget, cost control, and financial reports using cBord, Kronos, and Lawson
  • Assist Food Service Department with additional duties as needed
  • Identify areas of risk and problems, advise food service leadership, and work on resolutions
