Job Description

Novolex is currently seeking a Production Team Leader to join its Franklin Park, Illinois facility. This is a critical role focused on guiding a manufacturing team towards achieving excellence in productivity, safety, quality, and operational efficiency. The position offers a starting hourly wage ranging from $22.46 to $53.26 and operates primarily on a night shift from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. This role requires the ability to work overtime as necessary to meet production demands. As a Production Team Leader, you will spearhead efforts to maintain smooth production line operations by ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, monitoring equipment and personnel performance, and enforcing safety and quality standards throughout the facility. You will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement efforts by analyzing scrap and downtime, coordinating troubleshooting procedures, and supporting preventive maintenance activities to minimize production disruptions.

In addition, leadership responsibilities include coordinating employee training and cross-training, helping to cultivate a cooperative and efficient team environment while promoting compliance with safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and the mandated use of personal protective equipment. You will serve as a point of contact for resolving personnel issues, documenting employee performance challenges, and recommending disciplinary action when necessary. The role also demands effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the capacity to engage with associates at all organizational levels to foster teamwork and operational success. Ultimately, this position plays a pivotal role in sustaining a safe, effective, and productive manufacturing environment within a company deeply committed to sustainability, employee well-being, and community engagement.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years’ experience in manufacturing production or related field preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work collaboratively with associates at various levels
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to provide coaching and training
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to adhere to safety and GMP standards
  • Willingness to work 7:00 pm to 7:00 am shift and overtime
  • Commitment to following company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Prior PC skills and leadership experience preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with all organizational levels
  • Ability to provide coaching and training
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple problems simultaneously
  • One or more years of manufacturing production experience preferred
  • Familiarity with plant work process flow

Job Duties

  • Guide overall team mission in productivity, safety, quality, operations, continuous improvement, and team effectiveness
  • Work overtime as required
  • Ensure production lines run efficiently following standard operating procedures and proper settings
  • Monitor scrap generation, line downtime, and line efficiency
  • Resolve non-poly issues with warehouse and PIC
  • Ensure Bill of Material compliance
  • Follow troubleshooting processes and support preventative maintenance
  • Enforce safety rules, GMP, and proper use of PPE
  • Collect and report safety incident information
  • Coordinate new employee and cross-training
  • Verify completion of quality checks by operators
  • Assign housekeeping duties
  • Address personnel issues and recommend disciplinary actions
  • Counsel employees on performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
