Job Description

Indiana University Health is Indiana's most comprehensive health system, encompassing 15 hospitals and employing nearly 40,000 team members who are dedicated to serving communities across the state. As a renowned healthcare network, Indiana University Health combines cutting-edge medical research, facilitated by its partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine, with compassionate patient care. This robust system offers a collaborative and supportive environment where healthcare professionals are empowered to innovate and improve outcomes while delivering high-quality services. Employees benefit from access to the latest scientific advancements and top-tier training opportunities, which foster professional growth and excellence in every role.

The Team Lead-Food and Nutrition position is a pivotal role within the Food and Nutrition Services department at Methodist Hospital, a key facility under Indiana University Health's umbrella. This is a production-based team lead role requiring effective frontline leadership without direct supervisory responsibilities. The position is full-time, with scheduled hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including the requirement of working every Sunday or on rotating weekends as needed. Eligible candidates will benefit from shift pay differentials, recognizing their commitment during less conventional working hours.

The person in this role will support the Food and Nutrition team by coordinating daily task assignments, facilitating training and onboarding processes for new team members, and ensuring all supplies and equipment are consistently prepared and ready to use. The team lead acts as a role model by promoting quality, safety, and accountability within the team, fostering a positive and productive work culture aligned with departmental standards. They help maintain performance standards through real-time quality checks and peer coaching, and they support team communication via huddles, shift briefings, and ongoing discussions.

The position also involves inventory management and organization of materials to guarantee seamless service delivery. The team lead will often work in high-pressure and complex care areas, where professionalism, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols are of utmost importance. Through conducting quality audits and addressing any issues promptly, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining the superior standards of Indiana University Health's Food and Nutrition Services. This ensures patients and staff receive nutritious and safe food prepared in compliance with local health regulations and safety requirements.

This role is ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of relevant experience in food and nutrition services, complemented by a commitment to ongoing learning such as obtaining ServSafe Manager Certification within six months of hire. Candidates should be comfortable operating kitchen equipment, using basic computer skills, and adhering to necessary protective equipment and safety procedures. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting supplies up to 35 pounds routinely, and occasional climbing of ladders. Indiana University Health values diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the hiring process and employment.
