Job Description

The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown is a distinguished hotel located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, known for its exceptional hospitality and commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences. As part of Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality industry, this hotel operates with the highest standards of service and excellence. Marriott International is a worldwide brand recognized for its dedication to welcoming diversity, promoting employee development, and fostering a supportive work environment. With its central location at 1201 Market St, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown attracts a diverse clientele ranging from business travelers to leisure tourists, offering a broad range of amenities and services designed to enhance guest satisfaction and comfort.

This particular position is a full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage and Culinary category, offering an hourly wage range of $24.53 to $25.53, with tips included. The role is pivotal to ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel's dining services by fostering teamwork among staff members to guarantee optimal service and guest satisfaction. Responsibilities include opening and closing duties such as preparing supplies and utensils, cleaning equipment and areas, and securing doors. Maintaining cleanliness throughout the day by practicing on-the-go cleaning procedures is essential, as is inspecting dining areas to assess available seating, service quality, guest safety, and well-being. This role also involves completing maintenance work orders and reporting directly to maintenance departments for urgent repairs. Timely communication of any incidents involving employees, guests, or vendors to management and Loss Prevention is required for swift resolution.

Additionally, this position supports management by assisting in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model within the department. The employee must adhere strictly to company safety policies, report safety hazards or incidents, and complete all mandatory safety training and certifications. Professional appearance and the protection of company property and confidential information are critical aspects of the role. The job also demands physical activities such as lifting items under 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and navigating confined or elevated spaces safely. The employee will interact professionally with guests and other staff, maintaining clear, courteous communication at all times.

The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, alongside JW Marriott – its luxury brand counterpart known for upscale, holistic guest experiences – upholds a hospitality tradition that places employee happiness at the forefront. Marriott International emphasizes diversity and inclusivity, ensuring a workplace where people from various backgrounds can thrive. Joining this team means becoming part of a worldwide community committed to service excellence, career growth, and personal development. The work environment supports innovation and genuine hospitality, aligning closely with the legacy established by J. Willard Marriott. This position offers not only competitive compensation but also the unique chance to work in a luxury hotel setting that values its staff and strives to create a welcoming, respectful atmosphere both for employees and guests alike.
