Job Description
PlayCV is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of Castro Valley students through high-quality afterschool programs that focus on joyful play, hands-on learning, and whole-child development. This organization partners with nine elementary schools and two middle schools within the Castro Valley Unified School District. Their programs are designed to provide meaningful enrichment experiences including arts, science, music, STEM, recreation, social-emotional learning, and academic support. PlayCV's initiatives support students in building confidence, exploring creativity, strengthening social skills, and fostering meaningful relationships. The organization places high value on creating safe and inclusive spaces where every student feels welcomed, valued, and connected. Their work is guided by core Community Agreements that direct how staff interact with students, families, school partners, and colleagues.
The Full PLAY (TFP) program is PlayCV's flagship afterschool offering, operating from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. daily. The program provides students with a nurturing environment beginning with check-in and a nutritious snack, followed by a rotation through various enrichment classes, homework support, outdoor games, STEAM activities, and social engagement opportunities. The Team Captain position involves overseeing the daily operation at a TFP site and ensuring a safe and engaging experience for both students and families. This vital role supervises and supports TFP Instructors and TK & Kindergarten Lead Instructors, maintains positive relationships with school staff, manages daily program flow, and serves as the on-site point of contact.
The Team Captain also plays an important role in helping improve program quality by providing regular feedback to curriculum teams, program leadership, and the inclusivity team. This position requires adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to work at different school sites when needed, adjust work hours based on varying program schedules, and respond quickly to staffing or operational challenges across multiple locations. The ideal candidate exemplifies professionalism, integrity, and a student-centered approach while modeling and upholding PlayCV's Community Agreements. This position is part-time, offering an hourly pay range between $26.00 and $31.00 with expected weekly hours between 1 and 20. PlayCV offers benefits such as a 401(k) plan, a referral program, and tuition reimbursement to support the growth and well-being of its team members.
