The position of Team Captain of Operations plays a critical role in leading store operations and ensuring consistent, athlete-ready experiences both on the sales floor and behind the scenes. In this role, you will be responsible for coaching and leading your team to execute merchandising, pricing, and signage standards, while managing inventory, fulfillment, and stockroom processes. You will serve as a key operational leader, guiding your teammates to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork that directly impact the customer experience.
Day-to-day, you will anticipate athlete needs and equip them with knowledgeable information about products, while maintaining company merchandising and presentation standards. You will also contribute to the store's operational plans, including staffing and hiring needs, working closely with the Store Manager and Assistant Manager. Strong communication will be essential as you set departmental goals and assign workloads, making adjustments to schedules to meet athlete traffic and financial goals. Leadership in team development is a major part of the role, involving sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, training, and motivating team members to perform at their best.
Beyond operational responsibilities, you will ensure that all teammates comply with established safety policies, loss prevention procedures, and external regulatory guidelines. Holding team members accountable and fostering a respectful environment for teammates and athletes are paramount in this leadership position. As the frontline of store operations, you will sometimes act as the head coach in the absence of senior managers, overseeing critical store functions.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in retail or customer-facing role
- Ability to lead and manage teams effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Availability to perform store opening and closing duties
- Commitment to upholding company policies and standards
- Willingness to comply with background checks and ID verification
- Adherence to virtual interview requirements including cameras on and no use of AI tools during the hiring process
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience required
- Previous people leadership experience preferred
Job Duties
- Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable product information
- Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards including floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment standards
- Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment
- Contribute to development and execution of 30-60-90 day operational and merchandising plans alongside Store Manager and Assistant Manager
- Act as Head Coach and perform store oversight including opening and closing, Front End and Cash Office functions, and teammate supervision when acting as sole leader
- Communicate departmental goals and assign workloads to maximize efficiencies, adjusting schedules to meet athlete traffic and financial goals
- Build and lead a strong team by sourcing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, providing feedback, recognition, and managing performance including annual reviews and promotions
- Enforce safety, loss prevention policies, and regulatory compliance
- Hold teammates accountable for policy adherence
