At DICK'S Sporting Goods, sport and innovation are driving forces behind every aspect of the business, fostering a dynamic environment where employees are welcomed, supported, and empowered from the very first day. The company emphasizes teamwork, accountability, collaboration, and trustworthiness, encouraging all team members to win together and make a real difference in the lives of athletes they serve.

The role of Team Captain of Off Field Operations at DICK'S Sporting Goods is essential in ensuring operational excellence behind the scenes. This leadership position involves managing inventory, fulfillment, and stockroom execution to keep the store running smoothly and efficiently. This role requires strong leadership skills to oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, supervising teammates, managing the front end, and handling cash office functions when acting as the sole leader in the building.

In addition to operational supervision, the Team Captain collaborates with Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers to develop and execute 30-60-90 day plans that align with business priorities. This involves tactical planning for staffing, hiring, merchandising, and operational initiatives. The Team Captain is responsible for communicating departmental goals, assigning workloads based on skill levels, and monitoring progress to ensure uninterrupted operations and achievement of payroll and financial goals. Building and leading a motivated and effective team is a key aspect of this role, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, development, and ongoing coaching of teammates. Performance management responsibilities include conducting reviews, making promotional recommendations, and holding team members accountable to company policies and procedures, including making termination recommendations if necessary.

The Team Captain also upholds company policies related to safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures while ensuring compliance with laws and external guidelines. Creating a store environment where all teammates and athletes feel welcome and respected is a fundamental part of the role. This position demands a high level of adaptability, communication, and leadership capability to drive operational success and foster a positive and inclusive store culture. If you are passionate about sports, motivated to lead, and excel in a fast-paced retail environment, this role offers an exciting opportunity to grow your career at one of the most respected names in sporting goods retail.
