The role of Team Captain of Off Field Operations is a leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence behind the scenes in the store. This includes leading inventory management, fulfillment processes, and stockroom execution to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently. The Team Captain plays a key role in coaching and developing teammates, supporting the overall store performance, and maintaining a fast, accurate, and athlete-ready environment. This position requires strong judgment, analysis, and the ability to adapt plans to meet the dynamic needs of the store.

As Team Captain, candidates will contribute to creating 30-60-90 day business plans alongside Store Managers, support operational initiatives, manage staffing and hiring needs, and oversee general store functions when acting as the sole leader. Communication is critical in this role, as Team Captains are responsible for setting departmental goals, assigning tasks based on skill levels, and ensuring operational and merchandising initiatives are successfully completed. Building and leading a strong team is essential, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and motivating teammates. This leadership extends to managing performance reviews, promotions, accountability, and fostering a respectful and inclusive store environment.

Adherence to policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, and legal compliance is mandatory, as is upholding company standards in merchandising, presentation, and customer loyalty programs. The position demands accountability, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering exceptional athlete experiences. Candidates must be coachable, collaborative, trustworthy, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment that values innovation and authenticity. Job Duties

  • Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment
  • Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards
  • Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, private label credit card enrollment
  • Contribute to the development of 30-60-90 day plans with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to support business priorities
  • Execute plans and adjust as needed using judgment and analysis
  • Perform general store oversight including opening and closing procedures, Front End and Cash Office functions, teammate supervision when acting as sole leader
  • Communicate departmental goals and assign workload based on skill levels to maximize efficiencies
  • Develop effective schedules to meet athlete traffic demands and operational initiatives
  • Build and lead a strong, effective team by sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, giving feedback, recognizing, motivating teammates
  • Manage performance including annual reviews, promotional recommendations, holding teammates accountable for compliance including termination recommendations
  • Ensure adherence to safety, loss prevention, policies and legal guidelines
