This commitment to inclusion and excellence has made DICK'S Sporting Goods a recognized brand known for its positive impact on the lives of athletes at all levels.
As a Team Captain - Footwear at DICK'S Sporting Goods, you will take a significant leadership role within the store, focusing on coaching teammates, driving sales, and ensuring that the footwear department consistently meets the needs of athletes. This role is critical in delivering expert product knowledge and an exceptional athlete experience by emphasizing the right fit and performance for all footwear customers. You will contribute to the success of the store by managing daily operations, leading merchandising initiatives, and supporting the development of your team members to create a welcoming and motivating store atmosphere.
In this position, you will partner with Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers to develop and execute plans aligned with business priorities, such as staffing, operational initiatives, and merchandising strategies. Your leadership will extend to performing store oversight duties when necessary, including opening and closing procedures and supervising various departments. You will also be responsible for communicating department goals to your direct reports and ensuring smooth operational flow to meet both athlete and financial targets.
The role requires you to lead by example in building and maintaining a strong, effective team. You will actively participate in sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining qualified teammates. Providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and development will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, along with managing performance reviews and making recommendations for promotions or terminations as needed. Upholding a positive and respectful environment for both teammates and athletes is paramount.
Safety, loss prevention, and adherence to company policies are crucial in this leadership role. You will enforce compliance with established procedures and external regulations, holding teammates accountable to maintain high standards of safety and operational integrity.
This position offers a targeted pay range of $52,500 to $66,500 and is part of a comprehensive total rewards package that may include incentives, equity, and benefits. DICK'S Sporting Goods ensures equitable and competitive pay based on experience, location, and other relevant business factors. The company also complies with all state paid leave laws and offers an appealing suite of benefits designed to support the well-being and growth of its employees.
Joining DICK'S Sporting Goods as a Team Captain - Footwear is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of a team that inspires and empowers athletes every day. If you are coachable, accountable, collaborative, and trustworthy, you will thrive in this role and contribute to redefining what is possible in a dynamic retail environment.
